Terms & Conditions
Effective date: April 9, 2026
1. Organizer
La Promesa Tango Festival (July 30 – August 2, 2026, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is organized and operated by Calle del Tango(“we,” “us,” or “our”). All registrations constitute an agreement between you (“Registrant”) and Calle del Tango.
2. Registration & Accounts
To register for workshops or milongas, you must create an account via our website. Account authentication is handled by Clerk, Inc. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration. We reserve the right to cancel registrations made under false or incomplete information without refund.
You must be at least 16 years of age to register independently. Registrants between 16 and 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Pricing & Taxes
All prices are displayed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and do not include applicable taxes. Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) at the applicable Ontario rate will be calculated and added at checkout. Early bird, bundle, couple, and referral discounts are applied before tax.
Prices and availability are subject to change until a registration is confirmed by payment in full. Early-bird pricing is available only while spots or time windows remain and cannot be retroactively applied to completed purchases.
4. Payment
4.1 Accepted Payment Methods
- Credit / Debit Card — processed securely through Square, Inc. Registration is confirmed immediately upon successful payment.
- Interac e-Transfer — available for Canadian registrants. Your registration will be held in a pending state for up to 24 hours. If payment is not received within this window, the hold will be released and your selected workshops or passes may be made available to others. A flat discount is applied for Interac payments as shown at checkout.
- Zelle — available for US registrants. Your registration will be held in a pending state for up to 24 hours. If payment is not received within this window, the hold will be released and your selected workshops or passes may be made available to others.
4.2 Payment Security
Card data is processed by Square (PCI DSS Level 1 certified) and is never accessible to Calle del Tango. We retain only a masked transaction summary for accounting purposes.
4.3 Failed Payments
If a payment fails, your registration will not be confirmed. Workshop or pass spots are held only upon confirmed payment. We are not responsible for spots that sell out between a failed payment attempt and a subsequent retry.
5. Workshop & Milonga Registration
Workshop spots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon payment confirmation. Registration for a workshop constitutes a spot reservation for the specific session(s) selected. Spots are non-transferable between sessions unless approved by the organizer.
Milonga tickets grant entry to the specific milonga(s) purchased. Festival passes cover the sessions described in their respective descriptions at the time of purchase.
We reserve the right to adjust the workshop schedule, instructors, or venue assignments due to circumstances beyond our control (illness, travel disruption, venue issues). In such cases, we will offer comparable alternatives or a pro-rated credit; refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
6. Cancellation & Refund Policy
6.1 Cancellation by Registrant
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to info@lapromesatangofestival.com.
- Within 7 calendar days of purchase and before July 20, 2026: Full refunds are available, less the applicable payment processing fee.
- Before July 20, 2026, after the 7-day window: Written exceptions submitted by email may be considered under extenuating circumstances, and may be issued as credit toward the following year's festival.
- After July 20, 2026: No refunds will be issued.
6.2 Cancellation by the Organizer
If the entire festival is cancelled by the organizer for any reason (including force majeure — see Section 13), registered attendees will receive a full refund of amounts paid. We are not responsible for any additional costs incurred by registrants, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or visa fees.
If individual sessions (workshops or milongas) are cancelled, we will provide a pro-rated refund or a credit toward another session of equal value.
6.3 No-Shows
Failure to attend without prior written notice does not entitle you to a refund.
7. Discount Programs
7.1 Early Bird
Early bird discounts are applied automatically while valid (by quantity limit for workshops; by date for milongas and passes). Once the limit or deadline is reached, regular advance pricing applies. Early bird discounts are not retroactively applicable to completed purchases.
7.2 Couple Discount
The couple discount (8%) applies when two individuals register together in a single transaction. Both registrants must complete their purchase simultaneously. The discount cannot be applied retroactively to separate purchases.
7.3 Referral / Out-of-Town Code
Referral codes are valid only for attendees from outside the Greater Toronto Area. Use of a referral code by a local resident constitutes a breach of these Terms and may result in cancellation of the registration without refund. Referral codes provide a 5% discount applied to the qualifying order only.
7.4 Discount Stacking
Applicable discounts stack multiplicatively in the following order: bundle discount → couple discount → early bird discount → Interac discount. Discounts are calculated on the pre-tax amount.
8. Code of Conduct
La Promesa Tango Festival is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, age, disability, or dance level.
The following behaviour will not be tolerated:
- Harassment, intimidation, or unwanted physical contact of any kind.
- Discrimination based on any protected characteristic.
- Disruptive behaviour during workshops, milongas, or performances.
- Attending any festival event under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances to an extent that impairs judgement or endangers others.
- Recording or photographing other attendees without their consent.
The organizer reserves the right to remove any person who violates this Code of Conduct from the event without refund. Reports of misconduct can be made confidentially to any staff member or by emailing info@lapromesatangofestival.com.
In cases involving serious violations — including but not limited to assault, threats of violence, or criminal behaviour — the organizer reserves the right to involve law enforcement authorities and will cooperate fully with any resulting investigation.
9. Photography, Video & Intellectual Property
By attending La Promesa Tango Festival, you acknowledge that photography and video recording may take place at the event. Calle del Tango may use images or footage in which you appear for promotional, editorial, or documentary purposes. If you do not consent, you must notify us in writing before the event at info@lapromesatangofestival.com.
All instructional content, choreographies, musical performances, and materials presented at the festival are the intellectual property of the respective artists and instructors. Recording, distributing, or reproducing workshop content without explicit written permission from the rights holder is prohibited.
9.1 Professional Equipment
The use of professional photography or video equipment (including DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, tripods, external lighting rigs, and drones) is prohibited at all festival events without prior written authorization from the organizer. Personal mobile phone photography is permitted subject to the consent guidelines above. Requests for press or media credentials may be directed to info@lapromesatangofestival.com.
10. Health, Safety & Accessibility
Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit to participate in dance workshops and milongas. By registering, you confirm that you have no medical condition that would prevent safe participation or that you have obtained appropriate medical clearance.
Argentine tango is a partner dance that involves close physical contact, including close embrace. By registering, you acknowledge and accept the physical nature of the dance. You are never obligated to dance with anyone, and you may decline any invitation without explanation. If at any point you feel uncomfortable with the level of physical contact, you are encouraged to communicate this to your partner and/or report concerns to festival staff.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate accessibility needs. If you require specific accommodations, please contact us at least 30 days before the festival at info@lapromesatangofestival.com.
The organizer reserves the right to implement additional health and safety protocols at any time in response to public health guidance or venue requirements. We will communicate any such measures to registered attendees as early as possible.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Calle del Tango and its officers, directors, staff, and volunteers shall not be liable for:
- Any personal injury, illness, or property damage sustained at or in connection with the festival, except where caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
- Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your attendance or inability to attend, including costs of travel, accommodation, or visa.
- Acts or omissions of third-party vendors, venues, or service providers.
Festival events take place at third-party venues including Daniels Spectrum (585 Dundas Street East, Toronto) and Dovercourt House (805 Dovercourt Road, Toronto). These venues are independently owned and operated. Calle del Tango is not responsible for the condition, facilities, or operations of these venues and assumes no liability for incidents arising from venue-specific hazards.
In any event, our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount paid by you for your registration.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Calle del Tango, its organizers, volunteers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your conduct at the festival, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
13. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations where such failure results from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, pandemic or public health emergency, government orders, strikes, civil unrest, acts of war or terrorism, or venue unavailability. In such circumstances, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule or provide alternative arrangements and will communicate with registrants promptly.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflicts of law principles.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your registration shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Toronto, Ontario, under the rules of the ADR Institute of Canada, unless you elect to pursue a claim in Small Claims Court for disputes not exceeding the applicable monetary threshold.
15. Amendments
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered attendees by email and posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued participation after receiving notice of amended Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
