Syed

Syed is a Toronto-based tango dancer, DJ, organizer, and co-founder of Calle Del Tango, the organization behind La Promesa. Since first discovering tango in 2015, he has studied with several maestros while developing a deep curiosity for tango music, its history, orchestras, and emotional structure.

Since last year, Syed has become a regular presence at Toronto milongas. He is one of the resident DJs at Milonga Maleva and Milonga Dominguez, while also appearing as a guest DJ at other milongas. His style is dynamic, dancer-focused, and rooted in the Golden Age of tango, with a special love for the great orchestras, especially the “Big Four.” He balances rhythmic drive, lyrical melody, and dramatic intensity to keep the floor alive, responsive, and inviting.

Representing a new generation of tango DJs emerging from Toronto, Syed brings a deep respect for tradition while drawing inspiration from the evolving ideas and energy of today’s Buenos Aires tango scene. In the spirit of La Promesa, he is a DJ of the future, connected to tango, the dancers, and the community.
