Pancho
In 2002, Francis Pancho Cloutier worked in youth theater during the day as an actor and technician, and in the evening as a doorman at a neighborhood milonga. Seeing people dance together without really knowing each other intrigued him and drew him toward this language.
In 2003, Francis took his first steps in Argentine tango. In 2005, people at the milonga began asking him to teach them, and this is how he started teaching tango.
In 2009 and 2015, he participated in two semi-professional shows directed by Marika Landry: Milonga de mi Barrio, where he played the main role, and Chispa, where he was a dancer and assistant choreographer.
Between 2005 and 2015, Francis taught Argentine tango in several cities across Canada. From 2013 to 2015, he organized his own milonga, La Milonga de Pancho.
In 2015, Francis was thirsty for adventure, and he and his partner at the time, Catherine Magnan, left Montreal for Buenos Aires in a minivan. The journey lasted two years. On the road, Francis documented more than 300 interviews to eventually make a road movie documentary.
From 2017 to 2018, Francis returned to settle in Montreal and became the organizer of the Argentine tango school Las Piernas. From 2019 to today, Francis teaches and DJs at Studio Tango Montréal, the largest tango school in Montreal.
